Mark Kerruish

I, Kristen Mason and Michael Kretschmer signed up last year (2011) to do the TESOL course with a Mark Kerruish from Tesol S.A. – or at least we thought we had but soon realised after our second lesson that this guy who was running the course was not in fact who he initially portrayed himself out to be and was in fact miss- representing himself as a member of the TESOL SA institute. We subsequently lost our money when he realised our concerns and dissatisfaction with his capabilities to teach us this course and fled to China with our R9, 500. This left a bad taste in our mouth and myself and Mike felt rather put off from what had started out as an exciting and new adventure in doing a TESOL course to learn how to teach English abroad in Thailand. The C.T. TEFL/TESOL Inst. offered us a lot of advice in what to do and how to get our money back and in the meantime they offered us an opportunity to begin their TESOL course. We would like to warn any prospective students about Mark Kerruish and before signing up for a course, to visit the premises and meet the staff.

It has come to our attention recently that there are many places offering TEFL/TESOL courses as online and discounted courses. Please be aware that online TEFL/TESOL courses are not generally accepted at EFL institutions. Before deciding to do a course, make sure that there is a physical address, a landline telephone number and a registered business with permanent physical business address. The lecturers and trainers should also clearly list their qualifications on the TEFL/TESOL website. There are more and more fraudulent individuals trying to market their products via the internet.

It is always great to hear from Students that have taken the TESOL Course through the TEFL/TESOL Training Institute! Here is one that was just received via e-mail:

“Hi Matthew

I just wanted to share my excitement and say a BIG thank you to you because I was accepted into JET today!

I know that doing my TESOL training with you really helped me give the best possible interview and will of course help me with my future classes. Wish me luck, as I still don’t know where I will be placed yet.

Thanks again,
Claire Hirsch”

TEFL  – Cape Town

Are you interested in doing the TEFL or TESOL course in Cape Town?  The Cape Town TEFL Training Institute (CTTTI) has been offering teacher training since 1991. Our TEFL and TESOL courses offer high quality education in both the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching.

Both courses take place every month at our premises in Claremont. TEFL is a one week methodology course, while TESOL takes place over three weeks and includes a week of practical teacher training. Classes are kept small to ensure that students are given individual attention and have the opportunity to learn in a relaxed yet professional environment. Students are taken through the various aspects of teaching methodology by our qualified and experience lecturers, and then given the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice by teaching classes themselves.

For the practical teaching week, our trainees teach our classes of foreign students ranging from the Beginners to Advanced level, enabling the trainee teachers to get to grips with a wide variety of English levels.

Students who have completed TEFL in Cape Town have gone on to teach all over the world – Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Brazil and Spain to name a few. CTTTI and TESOL SA are one and the same organisation. We issue internationally recognised certificates.

We are known for producing teachers of excellent quality who are well equipped to deal with a variety of classroom situations.

Studying TEFL in Cape Town will open up a world of opportunities for teaching and travelling abroad. If you love the English language, enjoy travelling and are passionate about education the TEFL course in Cape Town is for you!

Our monthly courses are intended to develop the skills required by the TEFL/TESOL teacher teaching in South Africa or abroad.  The teacher is also made aware of the unique language  difficulties encountered by people learning English.

Acceptance on our course isn’t automatic. We require applicants to have English 1st language skills, a clear accent, further education and training or work experience. Accent and use of good, clear English is essentialin competing in a global TEFL/TESOL setting.

We require everybody wishing to register for our course to complete the registration form and send a deposit. While we cannot offer placments for students abroad , we do give advice regarding opportunities in different countries, agents, contracts and where possible make local agent details available to our students.

For detailed information, a registration form details about  the venue, charges, times, requirements, deposit,  bank details as well as a comprehensive course description, see our website.

Our courses are designed to develop the skills required to become  a TEFL/TESOL teacher in order to make you aware of your language abilities as well as the difficulty experienced by those that seek to learn it. While considerable attention is given to the theoretical aspects of teaching English, it is not just your knowledge of the language that is important but the methods you employ to teach others.

Acceptance on our course is not automatic. Applicants need excellent English skills as well as a degree or further Education and training.

Our courses fill up quickly, with some months being more popular than others. To ensure a place on our course, contact us timeously. Once your registration form plus deposit payment has been received, you will be registered for the course.  If you are unsure about your eligibility, please contact our office to meet with our trainer.
